eMBA Turku is a leadership development programme with international EPAS accreditation. The programme objective is to offer executives and experts the latest academic business knowledge with a practical touch. The main focus areas are global business excellence, visionary leadership, entrepreneurship, innovation, creativity and personal growth. Networking and exchange of experience are fundamental elements of the eMBA Turku studies.

eMBA Turku, tailored for the shipping industry, is a part-time study programme consisting of three modules, each of which taking approximately one year to complete:

  1. Shipping JOKO - Business Competence Programme
  2. GET - Global Executive Training Programme
  3. FUEL - Future Executive leadership Programme

In the Shipping JOKO, the first module of the eMBA Turku for the Shipping Industry programme, some parts of the contents are tailored for the maritime field together with the Centre for Maritime Studies, CMS. The participants in Shipping JOKO are people working in the shipping industry.

The goal of the Shipping JOKO is to create a strong foundation of different areas of business competence and their role in business management. The programme offers the latest research results adapted to practical business life needs. Writing a thesis is a part of the programme. In the thesis all participants solve a development challenge of their own company.

  • Top Management Forum – March 2013

  • Study journey to Rotterdam –  June 2013
  • Strategic thinking – Aug 2013
  • Challenges in maritime management – Sept 2013
  • Strategic marketing and sales – Oct 2013
  • Management communication and interactive skills – Nov 2013
  • Closing of the programme – Dec 2013

Fee and applications

The fee of the Shipping JOKO is 11.500 € (+ possible VAT) and the price for the whole eMBA Turku programme is 34.500 € (+possible VAT) at the moment (we reserve the right to changes). The fee includes the tuition of the sessions with the training materials as well as the books and meals. Domestic travel and accommodation costs will be paid by participants. The study journey abroad will cost around 3.800 € (including flights, training programme, accommodation and meals).

You can register either for Shipping JOKO only or for the entire eMBA Turku. The whole eMBA Turku programme takes approximately three years and it can be taken in parts. The extent of the eMBA Turku programme is 100 points.
