Maritime Logistics Research
The unit is part of the Merikotka research centre. The task of the Merikotka research centre is to initiate, carry out and apply research pertaining to maritime safety and security, maritime traffic, maritime industry and the marine environment.
Strengthening research on maritime safety and security and the marine environment promotes sustainable development and protection of the marine environment. Important focal areas are also maritime transport and port business operations. Carrying out research in these fields will support the development of business in the area and build up the image of South-East Finland as a strong centre for logistics.
