The Centre for Maritime Studies
The Centre for Maritime Studies (CMS) produces high-quality university level continuing education, research and conference services based on the needs of its clientele.
CMS participates in the socio-economic aspects of the maritime industry and the regional development of the coastal counties by producing and disseminating information and by critically observing current events within the community and the environment.
The institute supports decision-making within private companies and the public sector, as well as serving their educational and research needs.
The CMS was founded in 1980 and was made a special unit of the Turku University in 1984. Today it employs around fifty experts located in Turku, Rauma, Pori and Kotka.
